North Louisiana police chief debuts crime novel about Shreveport detective

For years, Kenneth Thompson has spent his career protecting and serving the people of North Louisiana and North Texas. Now, the Louisiana Delta Community College police chief is turning more than a decade of law enforcement experience into a suspenseful crime novel set in Shreveport.

In Thompson’s “The Come Up,” a Shreveport detective uncovers a dangerous web of corruption within his own department after a homicide investigation reveals missing evidence and a police cover-up, forcing him to choose between exposing the truth or protecting his own survival.

“It’s about corruption and abuse of power in law enforcement,” Thompson said. “All across the country that stuff goes on. I hadn’t so much had to deal with a lot of it in the departments that I’ve worked for. I’ve worked for pretty decent people. I’ve also followed daily news, and stuff is going on and I’ve seen corruption.”…
