Shreveport city employees woke up Friday morning to a problem no worker wants to see on payday. Their direct deposit checks had not landed in their bank accounts overnight.
Mayor Tom Arceneaux told KEEL News on Friday that the issue was tied to a human error in the city’s finance department, not a lack of funds. He said the initial payroll file was rejected and the city responded incorrectly before correcting the problem. According to the mayor, the deposits were expected to begin showing up in accounts by noon Friday.

Arceneaux was direct about what happened, saying city employees were dealing with “a city full of human employees” and that “occasionally somebody pushes the wrong button.”
The mayor said his own paycheck had not hit his account either, which helped him quickly understand this was not limited to one department or one group of workers.
