celebrated the opening of its new IDEA Lab last month, welcoming community leaders, partners, and supporters to its inclusive maker space and assistive technology hub at its headquarters on Spring Street in downtown Silver Spring.
The IDEA Lab, which is sponsored by United Therapeutics, The Bernstein Companies, Kaiser Permanente, and HUB International, brings people with disabilities and direct support professionals together to design practical, personalized solutions that increase independence, access, and choice in everyday life, according to the nonprofit.
The May 18 ribbon-cutting ceremony featured remarks from community leaders and demonstrations of the IDEA Lab in action, giving guests the opportunity to see projects developed in the maker space, including video resumes and self-advocacy films that help people with disabilities share their stories, highlight their skills, and communicate their goals more effectively…
