Traffic calming pilot project to make downtown Sioux Falls more walkable

A new traffic calming pilot project has been installed on 10th Street in downtown Sioux Falls.

Beginning at 2nd Avenue and extending to the 10th Street viaduct, the pilot will run from June 29 until July 31. It was conceived through a partnership between nonprofit Downtown Sioux Falls, Inc. and the City of Sioux Falls.

The project will involve installing planters and reflective delineators in existing, underutilized street parking spots to slow vehicles and reduce cut-through traffic. It will also hopefully guide drivers to nearby public parking ramps on Mall Avenue and on 1st Avenue…
