(Dakota News Now) – We’re in for another hot day and stormy night ahead. For most of today we’ll see a partly sunny sky with highs climbing back to the upper 80s and low to middle 90s. Feels like temperatures may be even get closer to low triple digits by this afternoon and early evening. Make sure you are taking proper precautions for the heat! As we head into this evening into early Wednesday morning, there will be a severe storm risk over a large part of our area. As a result, Tuesday will be a First Alert Weather Day as well due to a Level 2 risk of severe weather for everyone as a line of showers and storms is expected during the latter half of the day and into nighttime hours. The main threats will be strong winds and hail, but a brief tornado can’t be ruled out. Heavy pockets of rainfall may also lead to flash flooding.
Wednesday will still feature a chance for a couple of severe storms near the Sioux Falls area and while it’s a lower level risk of severe weather (level 1 out of 5) we’re still going to issue a First Alert Weather Day for the threat of severe weather.
Thursday and Friday will feature some breaks from the oppressive heat and we’ll generally avoid thunderstorm chances, but some chances for showers and storms will return on Thursday mainly in central and western South Dakota. Friday we do look to dry out for all of us with no major storms on the way…
