Midwest Honor Flight sees shorter wait, hopes to get more veterans on flights

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – The Midwest Honor Flight is continuing its mission to bring veterans from the area to the nation’s capital for “one final tour with honor,” and they’re checking names off of their wait list faster than ever. But they know there are many more veterans out there who haven’t signed up yet.

Getting five flights in each year has certainly helped the Midwest Honor Flight get more veterans to DC Faster. It’s both encouraging and challenging because, in order to keep the flights going, they need more veterans to apply.

For Midwest Honor Flight president and CEO Aaron Van Beek, the work is rewarding. Next year will be the Honor Flight chapter’s tenth anniversary, and in 31 missions, they’ve given thousands of veterans the chance to see their memorials and get the recognition they deserve…
