July rainfall tells a misleading story

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO)– With the heat understandably taking center stage as of late, we do need to remember to check the rain gauge now and again.

While we have seen showers and thunderstorms roll through portions of KELOLAND, which featured some damaging winds, hail, and a few tornadoes, widespread rain has been rather tough to come by.

Look at Sioux Falls as an example. At face value, the 2.35 inches of rain we’ve seen this month looks pretty good. Dig a bit deeper, and you’ll see that July 1st is doing a lot of heavy lifting here…
