29 days of house-arrest for Canton reckless driving case

CANTON, S.D. (KELO) — After an Ohio man was struck and killed by a pickup while riding his motorcycle, the man who drove the truck will serve 29 days on house arrest.

Jerry Wallenstein of Canton was driving his Chevrolet Silverado traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 18 about five miles south of Lennox. That’s when Wallenstein’s truck collided with a motorcycle while entering the left turning lane, attempting to turn north on 466th Avenue. Jerry Shafer, 60, who was on the motorcycle, died at the scene. The crash happened in July of 2024
