Aggravated assault turns into Sunday standoff

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Sioux Falls Police responded to an aggravated assault report resulting in a standoff for hours on Sunday.

The roughly 6-hour standoff ended with Kyle Terry being arrested and charged with aggravated assault and other charges.

According to Sioux Falls Police Lt. Nick Butler, around 3 p.m. officers were dispatched to a house in the 2300 block of East 8th Street for an aggravated assault report. The victim reported having a gun pointed at them while checking on the well-being of a resident of the house.

Officers attempted to make contact with the suspect for several hours; however, he refused to exit. Sioux Falls Police SWAT responded and the suspect was taken into custody shortly after 9 p.m…
