Halle Braun breaks all-time state record in 300 hurdles at Dakota Relays

When Sioux Falls Christian senior Halle Braun walked into the Howard Wood Dakota Relays on Saturday, her goal was to set personal best marks in her heats. But, as sports sometime go, the end result was much bigger than that.

Braun began the day in the 300m hurdles. She won the race and set a personal best time in the event, but her time of 42.58 quickly became historic. Not only did it break the Howard Wood Dakota Relays meet record, but it also broke the all-time state record for South Dakota in the event. The previous record of 42.66 in the 300m girls hurdles was set in 1993 by the legendary Anne Vollmer of Rapid City Central.

“It was in my mind, but it wasn’t really my goal. I knew I wanted to PR, I knew that. I just wanted to be confident coming into it, a high seed time, I wanted to maintain that. Just try my best and I’d be happy with that,” told Braun…
