SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The last day of school is a big part of the year for students and parents alike. But for Christ the King Elementary in Sioux Falls, Friday was the last day there… ever. Bishop O’Gorman Catholic Schools announced in 2025 that Christ the King would close, citing concerns with operating costs.
“My feeling is utter sadness,” Jessica Baltazar said. “It honestly feels like a funeral, that our family is breaking apart.”
Baltazar, who had two kids attend Christ the King in the 2025-26 school year, had a reminder in her hands during KELOLAND News’ interview with her Friday.
