SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The U.S. Transportation Department will award the Sioux Falls Regional Airport $5 million, federal officials announced Saturday.

The $5 million will be used to modernize restrooms and a mother’s room, according to a news release. In December 2025, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy encouraged airports to make facilities more family friendly which included adding mothers’ rooms or nursing pods.
The airport is scheduled to receive $8 million for terminal expansion which includes five new gates and associated restrooms and holdrooms, according federal Transportation information. In February Congress approved $30 million toward the airport expansion project.
