Spokane Valley Apartment Fire caused by cigarette in potted plant

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — In July, a 5-alarm fire at the Eagle Rock Apartments in Spokane Valley displaced 66 people.

Spokane Valley Fire Department saying the cause is believed to be a cigarette.

“The source of the fire started on the fifth floor and then dropped to the fourth floor and then began to burn up, and then took out the fifth floor,” Division Chief Ken Johnson, Head of SVFD’s Prevention Program, told NonStop Local. “We do have information that smoking occurred on multiple balconies, not just those two but others as well.”…
