Flags lowered in Spokane for National Firefighters Memorial Day

SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown ordered Monday that flags at all city facilities be lowered to half-staff to coincide with Governor Bob Ferguson’s directive for National Firefighters Memorial Day.

“National Firefighters Memorial Day is a day to honor the firefighters and emergency personnel who lost their lives in 2025,” Mayor Brown said. “This year’s recognition is especially important as our community honors Kootenai County Fire and Rescue Chief Frank Harwood and Coeur d’Alene Fire Department Battalion Chief John Morrison, who were killed in an ambush attack.”
