Spokane County Sheriff warns of growing danger from reckless driving at car meets

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office is warning that reckless driving tied to pop-up car meets is becoming increasingly dangerous after multiple arrests tied to a gathering in Spokane Valley last week.

Deputies say they responded to reports of a large car meet near East Mirabeau Parkway and East Pinecroft Way around 8:30 p.m. on May 1. According to the sheriff’s office, two motorcyclists were seen leaving the area at high speeds and driving recklessly through traffic.

Investigators say the riders reached speeds of up to 130 miles per hour on Interstate 90 while weaving through vehicles. Air One tracked the motorcycles from above while deputies avoided initiating a ground pursuit for safety reasons…
