Three Eastern Washington communities earn money through ‘Fields for the Future’ grant program

MOSES LAKE, Wash. — The Washington Turfgrass Seed Association (WTSA) is awarding three Eastern Washington communities funding for grass field improvements through the 2026 Fields for the Future Grant Program.

The $30,000 in projects approved by the WTSA Board of Directors include:

  • City of Moses Lake — $10,000 for infield fertilization and sod replacement at community playfields
  • Town of Rockford — $10,000 for Hughes Field renovation
  • Pullman School District — $10,000 for reseeding, repair and sod installation at Kamiak Elementary School

The Fields for the Future Grant Program was created to support communities, schools and local organizations working to improve safe, high-quality turfgrass athletic and recreational spaces, WTSA said.

“This year’s applications demonstrated an incredible commitment to community recreation and field improvement throughout Washington,” said Shane Johnson, administrator of the WTSA. “While we were only able to award three grants, the quality and passion behind every proposal reinforced the importance of continuing to invest in healthy, sustainable turfgrass facilities.”…
