Montgomery County Investigators Say a Texas Woman Died in a House Fire That a Working Smoke Alarm Could Have Prevented
There was a fire. Smoke filled every room. Not a single alarm went off.
A 78-year-old woman was found dead inside her burning home in northeast Montgomery County early Thursday morning. Investigators confirmed the house had no working smoke alarms. She lived alone. There was no one to wake her.
What Happened on Cedar Lane Loop
Residents along Cedar Lane Loop called 911 after noticing the fire. Crews from Montgomery County ESD 1 Fire Station arrived to find the home engulfed in flames.
