SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — “There is so much unknown when it comes to water rescues that you can’t plan for everything,” John Brossman said.
Brossman works for the Logan-Rogersville Fire Protection District and was one of the crews sent to Lake Springfield for a water rescue near the Lake Springfield Dam.
“We were dispatched around 4:30 ish yesterday afternoon to assist Springfield with the water rescue. It was Battlefield water rescue units and us, we were dispatched together. We responded to Kissick right there. It’s like Springfield. We were advised to take our water rescue assets to the lower side, where the dam actually goes over it fills into the river there. At that point, we know that there were four victims and that Springfield had a boat in the water. As we were responding, we learned through dispatch notifications and on-scene traffic that the Springfield water rescue boat had flipped and their rescuers were in the water as well,” Brossman said…
