SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – The 90th Ozark Empire Fair kicks off this Thursday, but ahead of the summer’s biggest party, many vendors and organizers spent Wednesday getting ready for the big kickoff. And while the fair celebrates nine decades of fun, the CEO says it’s a great accomplishment to hit during America’s 250th birthday as well.
Vendors were seen cleaning, organizing, bringing in the many different animals, and performing their safety checks. But as the fairgrounds set up all the thrilling things for you to enjoy over the next ten days, CEO Aaron Owen got emotional discussing the history behind the fair and that this next week means more to this community than what’s on the grounds.
“People love that legacy. There are four and five generations here that are still doing this, and we want to continue that. We want to continue to promote that,” said Aaron Owen, the CEO of Ozark Empire Fairgrounds. “It’s mind-boggling and special, and so many hours of work by the volunteers that come in and help us make this happen every year.”…
