Temperatures this afternoon were nearly 20° warmer than they were at the same time yesterday. Even with the warm-up, it still wasn’t too bad outside. Highs only climbed into the mid-80s, which is actually a few degrees below average for early August.
The cooler weather won’t last forever, though, as heat will gradually build back into the Ozarks over the next several days.
For Monday, expect temperatures to climb a few degrees higher than they did today under mostly sunny skies with light southerly winds.
Tuesday will bring another day of sunshine and quiet weather, with highs returning to the 90° mark for the first time in several days. Wednesday and Thursday are shaping up to be the hottest days of the week as temperatures climb into the mid-90s. Combined with the humidity, heat index values will approach the triple digits.
Rain chances remain slim through the start of the week, but opportunities for showers and thunderstorms increase during the second half. The best chance currently looks to arrive Wednesday night into early Thursday, with another round of rain possible on Friday. At this point, nothing appears to be a washout, and I’m not overly concerned about severe weather…
