Hopkinsville Police Charge Missouri Man in Alleged Forged Check Scheme

A Missouri man already being held in the Christian County Jail is facing additional charges after Hopkinsville Police say he cashed a fraudulent business check at a local truck stop.

Police have charged 31-year-old Thomas William Toner, of Springfield, Missouri, with second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and theft by deception between $500 and $1,000.

According to the arrest citation, the investigation began after Toner allegedly cashed a fraudulent Fleet check for $981 at the Love’s Travel Stop on Fort Campbell Boulevard shortly before 1 a.m. on July 31.
