SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — On Tuesday, the Greene County Commission will officially accept the resignation of Sheriff Jim Arnott and appoint Captain Jason Johnson as interim sheriff on Tuesday.
The Commission will accept Arnott’s resignation and appoint Cpt. Johnson as interim sheriff during its regular meeting on Aug. 18 at 9:30 a.m.

Sheriff Jim Arnott was confirmed by Congress earlier this month to serve as the U.S. Marshal for the Western District of Missouri. Cpt. Jason Johnson was the only person to apply to be interim sheriff during the election process, according to the Greene County Commission.
