SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – As students head back to class, one local grief center is urging teachers to pay special attention to kids returning to school after losing a parent or sibling.

Lost and Found Grief Center in Springfield says one in 10 children will lose a caregiver or sibling before they turn 18. The center is sharing practical tips for educators, from saying the loved one’s name and asking about favorite memories to using clear words like “died” instead of “passed away” so kids aren’t confused.
