NIXA, Mo. — Mary Floyd is a kindergarten teacher at Nixa’s John Thomas School of Discovery. She’s been with the district for 11 years, but has been teaching for close to 14, with a previous stop at Springfield Public Schools.
“I love working with the littles. This is like their home away from home. They are learning their academics, but they’re also learning how to be little humans. They’re making friends and just kind of becoming who they are in school,” Floyd said. “There’s so much growth, not only in their academics, but who they are as people.”
On top of being a teacher, Floyd is also a wife, a mother, and a youth cheer coach in Nixa. She considers herself a ‘Type-A’ personality, and lives by her planner…
