Baptist Bible College changing name for the first time in 74 years

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A local college is set to reach a major milestone in the school’s 74-year history.

Baptist Bible College (628 E. Kearney St.) is getting a name change and re-branded in 2024.

“It fits us, it reflects what we are all about, we are all on a mission to do what God has allowed us to do,” said Mark Milioni, president of the newly-named Mission University. “So that’s why we’re here, to prepare students to go out and fulfill that mission.”

Milioni said the university will now begin the process of changing signs and making upgrades to the exterior buildings.

The change took quite a bit of planning and commitment to bring to fruition, Milioni said. Although the school is changing its name, it isn’t changing its beliefs.

Over time, the university has added more degree options, which has helped them reach more students in southwest Missouri.

Milioni said that by making these changes, more people will start to notice the university and see their love for the north side of Springfield.
