Friday, January 26: Soggy and a little foggy to kick off the weekend

Foggy & soggy has been a running theme all week, and we certainly kicked off today with another round of dense fog. But, in some ways, today was better than past days. We got through the day mostly dry and we’re going into the evening without the widespread fog of past nights. The threat of fog is there though along with an increasing threat of rain later tonight.

This will be the final wave of rain with the caboose on this storm train moving through Saturday. Showers will spread in, mainly after midnight, continuing through Saturday morning. Cold and wet weather will tend to focus across areas along and south of I-44 with the heavier rain amounts more likely across Northern Arkansas. Showers will taper off to some patchy mist during the afternoon before completely shutting down Saturday evening.

We’ve had a mention of wet snow possibly mixing in, and that possibility is still on the table. If this were to play out it would be in higher elevation areas of the Ozarks east of Springfield or the higher points in Northwest Arkansas.
