A mild summer comes to a close, fall starts on Sunday

The countdown is on as meteorological fall begins on Sunday, September 1, 2024. As the days of summer tick by, it’s safe to say the summer of 2024 for the Ozarks wasn’t one of extremes.

On average, Springfield hits 90° 36 times a summer. So far, we have made it to 90° or above 30 times. By July 12, the average high temperature in Springfield, Missouri creeps to 90° and doesn’t drop down to 89° until August 17th.

Springfield has made it to 95° or above only eight times this summer (June, July, August).

Not every summer do we make it to 100°, and this summer has been one. The highest temperature reached was 97° on August 6, 2024.
