Which Springfield club inspired Chappell Roan’s ‘Pink Pony Club’? Here’s what we know

“I’m gonna keep on dancing at the Pink Pony Club,” belts out Chappell Roan in one of her hit singles that seems to played on the radio at least once a day.

The single, “Pink Pony Club,” is featured on Roan’s recently released and highly played album, “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.” As of Thursday, the single was ranked No. 27 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, following Roan’s “Good Luck, Babe!” at No. 4 and ” Hot To Go !” at No. 15. Her single “Red Wine Supernova” was also on the chart at No. 62.

Though the Willard native doesn’t mention her hometown, or the neighboring Springfield, in “Pink Pony Club,” it was a Springfield strip club that helped provide inspiration for the single. The Pink Pony, the strip club that previously operated in the building that houses Rumors Cabaret today, is what inspired the song, Roan’s team confirmed to the News-Leader via email in September. Rumors sits at 1750 S. Glenstone Ave., sandwiched between Coyote’s Adobe Cafe and the Lamplighter Inn & Suites.
