SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The man who kidnapped and killed a McDonald County woman in 2019 will spend decades in prison for the crime.
Wednesday morning, a federal judge in Springfield sentenced Mahamud Mahamed to 30 years in prison.
Mahamed pleaded guilty back in August 2025 to a single count of kidnapping resulting in death for the murder of Jessica McCormack of Noel back in 2019.
Her body was found near Highway 59 between Lanagan and Noel when a passerby spotted a pink suitcase in a ditch with feet sticking out. McCormack’s severely decomposed body was next to the suitcase, which belonged to Mahamed…
