Springfield man in custody after armed car theft and pursuit with police

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A Springfield man is in custody after being accused of stealing a vehicle and threatening individuals with a pistol in different events.

According to online court dockets, David Basham Jr., born in 1995, has been charged with vehicle hijacking – serious physical injury, aggravated fleeing a stop and first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle.

The probable cause statement says law enforcement was alerted to an incident on Saturday, May 2, when a victim gave a witness a ride to an apartment, where they went inside to get money from Basham.

The witness, along with Bashum and another man, got into a 2011 Nissan Rogue and drove to a gas station to get the money from an ATM…
