Birmingham, AL Weather Oct. 9-11: Tropical Storm Warnings, 60 MPH Gusts and Flood Risk

BIRMINGHAM, AL – Central Alabama faces a potentially dangerous period of tropical weather Friday night through early Sunday, Oct. 9-11, with wind gusts exceeding 60 mph possible in some locations, several inches of rainfall and a risk of isolated tornadoes.

According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, Tropical Storm Warnings, Tropical Storm Watches and High Wind Watches cover different portions of central Alabama as the region prepares for strong winds and heavy rainfall associated with Hurricane Isaias.

Forecasters indicate winds of 30 to 40 mph are possible across affected areas, with a few gusts reaching 50 to 60 mph or higher. The strongest winds could make driving difficult for high-profile vehicles and create hazardous conditions for unsecured outdoor objects…
