HOCKESSIN — Some Delaware dogs are about to become su-PAW-stars Feb. 11 as they play for the “Lombarky” trophy.
Puppy Bowl XX will take place at 2 p.m. on various networks including Animal Planet. The 20th anniversary will include 131 puppies who come from 73 different shelters.
The goal of the Puppy Bowl is to showcase dogs available for adoption. The dogs will be running around a football arena with toys and more as Team Ruff and Team Fluff go against each other for the trophy.
The First State will be represented by two shelters in the big game.
Renee’s Rescue in Hockessin has its first dog in this year’s Puppy Bowl. Moe is an American pit bull terrier and Chow Chow mix who will represent the rescue on Team Ruff.
Renee Martini founded the rescue in 2014. They had never applied to have a puppy in the bowl until this year. Moe was rescued from an accidental litter in Alabama.
The owners of the litter sold all of the puppies, except for three, one of them being Moe. The dogs were left outdoors to survive on their own.
