Woman who fired ‘warning shot’ through wooden fence and killed ex-boyfriend from 100 feet away learns her fate

An Illinois woman will spend more than five decades behind bars for killing her ex-boyfriend after she fired what she described as a warning shot that went through a fence and hit him from 100 feet away.

Tara A. Anderson, 40, was sentenced to 55 years in prison on Tuesday for the death of 39-year-old Phillip Armstrong, the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office said in a press release. She was convicted of first-degree murder in May.
