Plea deal shows Horton defrauded D65 of at least $283,500, personally received at least $81,700

Former Evanston/Skokie School District 65 Superintendent Devon Horton defrauded the district of at least $283,500 between April 2022 and June 2023, according to a plea deal filed Monday.

At least $81,700 of the embezzled funds went to Horton personally, according to the plea deal.

Horton pleaded guilty to three charges of embezzlement, wire fraud and tax fraud Monday and could now face up to seven to nine years in prison if the court rules he has taken appropriate responsibility for his actions.
