Docs: Muncie man confronts IHOP cook with gun, leads police on high-speed chase, crashes into home

MUNCIE, Ind. — A Muncie man allegedly fired a gun inside an IHOP after he confronted a cook about having sex with his wife, eventually leading police on a high-speed chase in Muncie that resulted in him crashing his SUV into a house.

According to documents filed in Delaware County, 28-year-old Austen Wable was preliminarily charged with:

  • One count of criminal recklessness – shooting a firearm into an inhabited building, a Level 5 felony
  • One count of intimidation with a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony
  • One count of unlawful carrying of a handgun, a Level 5 felony
  • One count of pointing a firearm, a Level 6 felony
  • One count of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, a Level 6 felony
  • One count of OWI: Endangering a person, a Level 6 felony
  • Misdemeanor counts of resisting law enforcement and DWS.
