Indiana drug overdose rate falls over 40 percent

Indiana’s drug overdose death rate fell 40.3% between 2020 and 2025, according to a new analysis of federal data.

The analysis by AddictionResource.net found Indiana’s overdose death rate dropped from 34.2 deaths per 100,000 residents in 2020 to 20.4 in 2025. The 2025 rate was 50.5% below Indiana’s peak of 41.3 deaths per 100,000 in 2021.
