Thursday, February 8: 70s wrapping up, potential snow Sunday

Today will be warm, windy and dry with cloudy skies to start the day becoming sunny around midday. Fire danger is a big concern today, especially in western and west central Missouri. Burning plans areawide should be rescheduled for Saturday if possible.

Winds will be out of the southwest between 15 to 25 mph with gusts between 35-45 mph. A red flag warning is in place from noon to 9PM today across western Missouri. Relativie humidity will be low between 20-30% adding to the fire concerns today.

Otherwise, temperatures will soar into the upper 60s in the east to low 70s across the west where clouds will clear out earlier in the day. Overnight tonight will remain breezy, but winds will relax some tonight into Friday.

Friday will be another warm and sunny afternoon with temperatures racing to the 70-degree mark once again. A cold front Friday night/Saturday morning will keep us on the cooler side going into Saturday. There is a slight chance for an isolated shower or even a thunderstorm ahead of the front Friday evening. The main hazards would be lightning and localized gusty winds IF a storm can develop.
