‘Insect alert’: Bugs could soon ‘flood’ Ohio homes

(WJW) – As temperatures drop experts warn that several ‘unwelcome guests’ will soon try to make their way indoors — if they haven’t already.

An assistant professor at the Ohio State University Extension recently wrote an article that said ‘fall home invaders’ are now ‘trickling’ into Ohio homes, but said predicted weather conditions could “turn the trickle of insects into a flood.”

As a result, the extension posted on Facebook what they called a “ Fall Insect Alert .” In the post experts listed three bugs homeowners might encounter inside their home this season.

Here’s the breakdown:

Boxelder Bugs

These black and orange insects are described as a “ harmless nuisance .” Experts at the OSU Extension said they love to congregate on sunny walls and while they may enter homes by flying through open doors or windows, they most commonly come in through cracks and crevices.
