N.Y. lottery: Staten Island card shop sells $1M Powerball ticket

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A Powerball ticket sold on the Island came within one number of winning the jackpot in Monday night’s drawing, earning a $1 million prize instead.

The ticket was purchased at Naz Cards & Gifts in Eltingville and matched the five white balls drawn: 2, 42, 47, 57 and 58. The only number not matched was the Powerball, which was 14.

Because the ticket matched all five white balls but not the Powerball, it qualified for the game’s second-tier prize of $1 million…
