FDNY knocks down basement fire at Staten Island eatery

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The FDNY responded to a fire at a West Brighton business Tuesday, bringing the blaze under control in just over an hour.

A fire broke out in the basement of Panini Grill, 538 Forest Ave., between Lawrence and Pelton avenues, at around 3:30 p.m., an FDNY spokesperson said.

Twenty-one units and 79 FDNY and EMS personnel brought the blaze under control by about 4:45 p.m., the FDNY said. Con Edison also responded to the scene to shut off power to the business…
