STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Plans to bring Pete Davidson and Colin Jost’s decommissioned Staten Island ferry to a Manhattan pier for Fourth of July celebrations have fallen through, according to the New York Post.
The vessel, which was purchased by the comedians for about $280,000 in 2022, had been considered for temporary docking at Pier 15 near the South Street Seaport as part of the city’s Fourth of July festivities.
The ferry named the John F. Kennedy, was built in 1965 and retired after decades of service. In 2022, Davidson and Jost announced their plan to turn the decommissioned ferry into a floating entertainment venue featuring restaurants, bars and event space.
On Thursday, city officials notified Community Board 1 that the ferry would not dock at the Manhattan pier during the holiday period, citing safety concerns, potential overcrowding, and impacts on the surrounding South Street Seaport waterfront.
