STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — With signage now in place, Lidl inches closer to opening. Construction continues on Staten Island’s second Lidl grocery store, as the German discount supermarket chain transforms the former Party City space at 1549 Forest Ave.
Corporate representatives did not respond to inquiries about the store’s details or opening date. However, a person familiar with the project said the store remains months away from opening, with no definitive timetable in place.
According to site plans posted by Kimco Realty, Lidl will occupy approximately 19,667 square feet at the Forest Avenue shopping center. The footprint is smaller than the chain’s existing Staten Island store in New Springville, which spans about 30,000 square feet.
If the new location mirrors Lidl’s existing Staten Island store, shoppers can expect an in-store European-style bakery along with a mix of private-label and national-brand products.
