STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Two Staten Island high schools will send student performers to represent the borough at the 16th annual Roger Rees Awards for Excellence in Student Performance.
Monsignor Farrell High School and Susan E. Wagner High School are among the Greater New York City schools participating in the competition program, which recognizes high school musical theater talent. The Broadway Education Alliance and Disney Theatrical Group will present the showcase at Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway at 95th St., at 7 p.m. on May 17.
The event features students nominated for Outstanding Performer, who will perform group musical numbers accompanied by the New York City Center Youth Orchestra, an 18-member ensemble of student musicians assembled and directed by Rick Hip-Flores.
