Robotic surgery advances with Da Vinci 5 technology at Staten Island University Hospital

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Northwell Staten Island University Hospital has become the first facility on Staten Island to acquire the Da Vinci 5 robotic surgical system. The hospital has received two units, with three more expected within the next month.

The technology aims to improve surgical precision, efficiency and patient outcomes, according to a hospital announcement.

“This is the newest, latest technology,” said Dr. Olivia Haney, a minimally invasive robotic general surgeon at Staten Island University Hospital. “We’ve been doing robotic surgery for years, but the Da Vinci 5 takes everything to the next level, for both patients and surgeons.”…
