NYPD: Teen charged after gun found at Staten Island school

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A student was arrested at Curtis High School in St. George on Friday, after school safety staff allegedly found a firearm in his backpack, said police.

According to a spokesperson for the NYPD, a 911 call was received at approximately 12:26 p.m. on May 15 regarding a firearm found at the Hamilton Avenue school.

Upon arrival, officers found a 17-year-old male student allegedly in possession of a firearm among his school supplies, said police. The minor was arrested and charged with two counts of criminal possession of a firearm…
