Family doctor who treated 4 generations on Staten Island recognized posthumously with city honor

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The life and impact of a beloved family physician, Dr. Louis Gilbert Gianvito, was honored Saturday with a street co-naming attended by loved ones, prominent Staten Islanders and elected officials.

The intersection of Conyingham and Castleton Avenues is now Dr. Louis G. Gianvito, M.D. Way, recognizing an extraordinary public servant in the neighborhood where he spent years serving generations of Staten Islanders.
