Syracuse Fire Dept. tackles back-to-back fires Sunday morning

The Syracuse Fire Department responded to two early morning fires on Sunday, May 31.

First, crews were called to a 2 1/2-story home on Kellogg Street for reports of an active fire around 6:33 a.m. Upon arrival, crews found smoke billowing outside a first story apartment window. The department says it took crews a little over 10 minutes to declare the fire extinguished.

One person had exited the home prior to the Fire Department’s arrival and was taken to Upstate Hospital for evaluation. On Sunday, the American Red Cross announced it was helping one person who was displaced as a result of this fire, with emergency funds for clothes, shelter, and food…
