Syracuse.com’s final boys lacrosse rankings: Sectional champions crowned

Syracuse, N.Y. — After hundreds of games and months of play, Section III crowned four boys lacrosse champions on Saturday and Tuesday.

On Saturday, Jamesville-DeWitt opened the first of three championships with a resounding 15-3 win over New Hartford in the Class C title game. Marcellus followed that up by separating itself from Lowville in the second half to win Class D, 21-14. In the final game of the day, West Genesee rolled past Cicero North Syracuse in a rematch from a one-goal game earlier in May to win Class A, 14-9.

Those championships marked J-D and Marcellus’ fourth straight and West Genesee’s fifth straight.

On Tuesday, Fayetteville-Manlius surged in the first half and held on to down Auburn, 18-8, for the Class B championship. The Hornets, who moved down from Class A this spring, are the only newly-crowned Section III boys lacrosse champions.

F-M moves on to the regional round, where it’ll face Section II champion Niskayuna at noon on Saturday at CNS. Check back later Wednesday night for a roundup of the subregional round games for West Genesee, J-D and Marcellus…
