Lawyers for Syracuse.com asked a federal judge to unseal court records in a suspicious immigration enforcement case against a North Country dairy farm worker. Federal prosecutors charged Marvin Aguilar-Garcia with assault, alleging he hit a Border Patrol agent with a car owner’s manual when he was caught in an immigration sting in December. Aguilar was living legally in the United States while he pursued asylum from Guatemala, his lawyer said. Syracuse.com and The Post-Standard first reported how the Justice Department’s case gradually fell apart until prosecutors dropped the charges in February — five days before a jury trial.
