Ex-financial advisor sentenced to 70 months for stealing $686K from clients

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The United States Department of Justice announced the sentencing of an ex-financial advisor for stealing money from his clients.

The Department of Justice said Dean Dellas, 42, of Cazenovia, will serve 70 months in prison after pleading guilty to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft.

As part of his guilty plea, Dellas admitted that between June 2021 and November 2023, he acted as a financial advisor for the investment accounts of clients in the Syracuse area. He made clients sign paperwork that allowed him to take advisory fees from their accounts beyond what they agreed to.
